Wolves attacking in India

Bahraich UP- August 2024: Nowadays, a pack of wolves has created terror in some areas from Bahraich district to Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh,a state of India. 

Suddenly, contrary to their natural behavior, a pack of wolves is now busy in making human children their prey. The reason behind this is not yet clear that how did the wolves, which always maintain distance from humans, suddenly change so much? Is this change due to them suddenly considering a human child whining with hunger as worthy of their prey and making it easily available? Did the eating happen out of understanding or was it an accident which later became a habit.

According to the administration, 4 wolves from a pack of 6-7 wolves have been caught and sent to cages. But it is not yet clear who is the leader or the alpha male among them.

Because wolves are the wild form of domesticated dogs which live in herds like humans and do not shy away from attacking anyone as per the wish of their leader.

Man-eating wolves have unique behavior that differentiates them from normal wolves. Usually these wolves start hunting around human settlements. Their functioning is as follows:

Search for prey: Man-eating wolves prey on weak and vulnerable people, such as children or the elderly. They often attack at night or early morning, when people are less alert.

Roaming near settlements: These wolves leave the forest and come near human settlements, where they roam in search of food. When they cannot find prey, they attack humans.

Pack Attack: Wolves often pack and hunt collectively, making it easier for them to corner a single human.

Attack by lurking: These wolves hide in dense forests or fields and attack suddenly. Their sheer speed and strength make them dangerous.

Nocturnal activity: Wolves are primarily active in the dark of night, making them difficult to detect. That is why they attack at night, especially on children who are playing outside the house or working in the fields.

These wolves generally do not attack alone, but instead attack in groups, making it difficult for their prey to escape.

Why do wolves attack humans?

Wolves generally stay away from humans and are even afraid of humans, but like humans, every human being has a different nature, some get angry and get ready to fight, while some remain cool even in adverse situations. In the same way, some wolves, who are quick-tempered by nature, want to become a leader, and get separated from the pack after being beaten by the alpha males, form their own small separate pack, in such a situation, when they don't get food in new places in the forest. They forciably repelled toward villages. in such a situation, when there is nothing to eat, these wolves come out to the villages and try to establish in new situation.

Because by nature, these wolves are short tempered due to hunger, hunger for days instigates them to attack anyone, such a situation puts human children and cattle in a dangerous situation.

Because any adult human can keep the wolves away, people also guard the cattle and the cattle graze during the day and remain under the supervision of their owners, hence they are protected from wolf attacks. But human children do not have any eye on them, they roam around alone in the villages without any protection, day or night. At night, these wolves try to take advantage of such situation and make humans and old women their prey. They attack while trying to make it.

99% of wolf attacks happen at night when children are sleeping without security in huts without doors or are sitting in the dark to defecate. These wolves keep a secret watch on the activities of the children since evening. And as soon as it gets dark, the gray wolves slowly start coming closer and carry out the incident.

How to protect yourself from such attacks?

It is also easy to avoid such attacks. People living near farms need to keep their huts strong with doors and windows, and also send children to defecate at home or in nearby toilets where there is arrangement for light. Do not let children go out alone at night, because wild animals like wolf, leopard, tiger, lion, hyena or stray dogs also attack at night. Population density is also responsible for this man wolves conflict.

Now new information are comming from the fresh attacks, indicates that one Lame wolf is commonly find near the attack. This lame  wolf might not be able to hunt in the Jungle, hence he is instigated attackes on easy pray.

Indian State Government had issued order to shoot at the site for this Wolf.
